The Studio's vision is to provide violin, piano and art instruction to children and adults through a classical reality-based approach — integrating critical thinking, self-discipline and fun in an atmosphere which cultivates a deeper appreciation for beauty and the fine arts.
Here's how the reading level of one proud grandparent's granddaughter skyrocketed in just 6 short months of violin study with Ms. Mauroschadt...

Ms. Mauroschadt offers a wealth of professional training and a breadth of experience to her students in Charlottesville, VA and beyond at The Violin and Piano Studio. While earning her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ithaca College, she studied violin with Curtis Institute of Music alumna Pamela Gearhart, while also focusing on piano pedagogy. Ms. Mauroschadt's playing and teaching was dramatically influenced by "Mrs. G's" winsome and engaging style, juxtaposed with high standards and an intense focus on getting the most from her students. She has also taken lessons with David Cerone of the Cleveland Institute of Music during a summer program at the Meadowmount School of Music and, more recently, Teo Tetel of The Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Preparatory Department.
Ms. Mauroschadt undertook her training in Suzuki Violin Pedagogy with acclaimed teachers Sanford Reuning and Teri Einfeldt (of Ithaca Talent Education) in Ithaca, NY. Continuing education through Suzuki teacher training sessions, and now online musical pedagogy resources, has been a hallmark of her teaching career.

During your "Meet & Greet" visit, you'll learn all you need to know about how to get started and, together with Ms. Mauroschadt, will set realistic expectations for your child's art or music instruction. The private lessons will teach the technique and begin instilling a solid work ethic and the lighthearted group lessons will provide a venue for your child to enjoy making friends, laugh, share accomplishments, and learn from peer role models.

This summer, The Violin & Piano will be offering its first Cursive Handwriting Course for children. Since the introduction of the keyboard in the educational system, there has been a decline in the quality of children’s penmanship. Many children who should know how to write in cursive do not and those that do tend to struggle with the quality of their script.
There is much information on the web regarding the correlation between cursive handwriting and cognitive development and this connection carries over into learning to play a musical instrument as well.
Therefore, our Studio will venture into the world of cursive handwriting this summer with the objective of improving eye/hand coordination and mental focus as well as heightening their awareness of the joy in the expression of beautiful penmanship.
